Illinois Foundation for Eyecare
The Illinois Foundation for Eyecare was created to advance community awareness and to develop creative solutions that address eye care problems in the community. The corporation will, among other things, develop programs to promote and improve the quality, availability, and accessibility of eye and vision care for all the people of Illinois; to advance, encourage and foster optometric education; to increase awareness of the services provided in the community; to aid research and development of knowledge in the eye care field; and to assist optometrists in better serving the eye and vision care needs of their patients.
Attention Fourth Year Optometric Students!
$1,000 Student Scholarship
Administered by the Illinois Foundation for Eyecare
A $1,000 scholarship is intended for a student who is preparing to practice in an underserved region in Illinois, as defined by the state of Illinois, or to practice in a community health center in Illinois. The application is based on academic performance and evidence of good character and leadership. Financial need is also a consideration.
To be eligible for the scholarship the applicant must:
Be a 4th year student at an ACOE accredited school of Optometry
Be a member of good-standing in the AOSA and the IOA
Be a student of good academic standing
Submit an Illinois Foundation for Eyecare Scholarship Application which includes an essay, written in English, not to exceed 1,500 words describing:
“Why you are planning to practice in an underserved region or in a community health center in Illinois, and why you think being involved in organized optometry will help you to succeed.”

calling the Illinois Optometric Association at 217-525-8012 after October 31, 2016.
The application deadline will be March 2017
The winner will be announced no later than May 1, 2017, and notified by email
